Why does the Febos Crono WIFI lose connection?
The Febos Crono stores the data of the previously configured Wi-Fi network.
When you replace your modem or change your network name, password, or security settings, your device may no longer be able to connect.
The most common symptoms are:
- red dot on the Wi-Fi icon;
- no IP address in Wi-Fi screen;
- offline system.
Our real case
The problem occurred immediately after replacing the modem with a new model. Wi-Fi 7.
After several attempts, we found a procedure that allowed the Febos Crono to reconnect to the network.
Important: The steps described are those that worked in our system. Some settings may differ depending on the router model or system configuration.
1. Create a guest Wi-Fi network
The first change was to create a guest Wi-Fi network dedicated.
This allowed the Febos Crono to be separated from the main modem network.
2. Set up WPA2 security
The guest network was initially protected with WPA3.
In our case the Febos Crono was unable to complete the connection.
After changing the protection in WPA2, the device has started to recognize the network correctly.
Note: This setup solved the problem in our case with a Wi-Fi 7 modem. This does not mean that all routers necessarily require the same setting.
3. Access advanced settings
To change the configuration you need to log in from the touch display.
In our plant, produced in 2022, the access code was 2022.
Once logged in, the advanced device settings became available.
Attention: The code may vary depending on the year of installation or the configuration performed by the installer.
4. Select the new Wi-Fi network
Open the dedicated wireless network menu.
Wait for the search for available networks to complete.
Select the guest Wi-Fi network you just created.
Enter the correct password and confirm.
The most important step: don't rush
This is the detail that allowed us to solve the problem.
After pressing OK to confirm the Wi-Fi network password, the Febos Crono apparently remained stationary.
He seemed stuck.
It was actually still processing the configuration.
In our case it has passed about 13 minutes before the device completed the connection.
Other steps may also be required from 5 up to 15-20 minutes.
Do not repeat the procedure continuously
If nothing happens after a few seconds, avoid:
- turn off the device;
- repeat the configuration;
- change the settings again.
Press the button once and wait patiently.
Interrupting the procedure too early may make it seem like the configuration is not working, when in reality the Febos Crono may still be in the connection phase.
How to check if Wi-Fi is working again
When the connection is completed:
- the red dot disappears;
- an IP address appears on the Wi-Fi screen;
- the device is back online.
If the Febos Crono still does not connect
Before contacting support, check that:
- the router has a wireless network 2.4 GHz;
- the security configuration is compatible with the device;
- the password was entered correctly;
- that sufficient time has been allowed for the procedure to be completed.
If the problem is with your router and you need to change your Wi-Fi network configuration, a router that allows you to manage the 2.4 GHz network and security settings separately can be helpful.
Wi-Fi 6/7 router with guest network and advanced management
Ideal for creating a dedicated network for your home's smart devices and easily managing security and 2.4 GHz band settings.
However, if the Wi-Fi signal is weak in the area where the Febos Crono is installed, it may be useful to improve the network coverage.
Dual Band Wi-Fi Range Extender
Useful for improving network coverage in areas where the router signal is weak.
FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Why doesn't the Febos Crono connect to Wi-Fi after changing the modem?
After replacing the modem, the network name, password, or security protocol can be changed. The Febos Crono retains the data from the previously configured network and can therefore remain offline until connected to the new network.
Does the Febos Crono work with a Wi-Fi 7 modem?
In our case, the problem arose after switching to a Wi-Fi 7 modem. We managed to resolve it by creating a guest network and setting up WPA2 security. This doesn't mean that all Wi-Fi 7 modems necessarily require the same configuration.
Why did we use WPA2 instead of WPA3?
With the network configured as WPA3, our Febos Crono was unable to complete the connection. After setting up WPA2 on the guest network, the connection succeeded.
What is the password to access the Febos Crono settings?
In our Febos Crono, produced in 2022, the access code was 2022. The code may be different on other systems or may have been changed by the installer, so it should not be considered a universal password.
How long does it take for the Febos Crono to connect to Wi-Fi?
It can be very slow. During our test, some steps took several minutes, and after confirming the Wi-Fi password, we waited about 13 minutes before the connection was completed.
What should I do if it seems stuck during setup?
Don't press the buttons repeatedly or immediately restart the procedure. After confirming an operation, wait. In our case, some steps required from 5 up to about 15-20 minutes.
How do I know if Febos Crono is back online?
Check the display: the red Wi-Fi dot should disappear and the IP address assigned by the router should appear in the network information.
In summary
In our case the problem was not a fault with the Febos Crono, but rather compatibility with the new modem's settings.
The solution was:
- create a guest Wi-Fi network;
- use a configuration compatible with the device;
- access advanced settings;
- select the new network;
- enter the correct password;
- Please wait patiently for the connection to complete.
The most important advice is simple: don't be in a hurry. The Febos Crono may take several minutes to complete the setup, and interrupting the procedure too early may lead you to mistakenly believe that something is wrong.
Conclusion
If you're left without a Wi-Fi connection after changing your modem, you might think your Febos Crono is faulty, but in most cases, the problem is much simpler to fix.
In our case, it was enough to create a guest Wi-Fi network, use a configuration compatible with the device, and wait patiently for the connection to complete. The decisive step was the last one: the Febos Crono took about 13 minutes to connect to the network after confirming the password.
If you find yourself in the same situation, avoid constantly interrupting the process. Often, the device is still processing the setup and simply needs more time.
We hope this real-world experience, along with photos of the various steps, will help you get your system back online without having to call for assistance.
